Three Fundamental Changes Needed in Higher Education

1. Higher education must be more flexible, agile, and timely, beginning simultaneously with high school and continuing throughout adulthood. 2. Education needs to be rooted in partnerships with communities, industries, and local governments, allowing students to apply their learning in meaningful ways. 3. Education must be democratized, individualized, and accessible, overhauling our understanding of who can be educated and making it affordable. Community colleges are well-positioned to lead these changes, offering a wide variety of opportunities, aligning curricula with job market demands, embracing technology, and championing accessibility.
